Health issue is identified by the Health Facility, then STIPA organizes for health education sessions at the community either at the Chiefs’ barazzas, churches, schools or health facilities. On other occasions this is normally done at the health facilities during clinic days or observed National Health Days like, Toilet and hand washing Day, World AIDS Day, amongst others.
Strategies used in the implementation
• Health Communication - Raising awareness about healthy behaviors for the general public through verbal and written strategies to influence and empower individuals, populations, and communities to make healthier choices. Examples of communication strategies include public service announcements, health fairs, mass media campaigns, and newsletters.
• Health Education - Empowering behavior change and actions through increased knowledge e.g. trainings.
• Community Outreaches – Reaching out to the community or providing services to a community who might not have access to such services, e.g. mobile clinic days.
• Dialogue Days - Interactive
Adolescent and youth pograms has been in implementation since year 2016 in four counties- Vihiga, Kisumu, Siaya and Homa Bay .The program focuses in advocacy for age appropriate Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), life skill education, peer based muli-media education option and facilitating referral and linkage, reaching 22 ,480 school based approach and 12,890 community based approach .The overall objective of the program is to improve the SRHR of young people and girls aged 10-24 by increasing their access to comprehensive SRHR information and services, advocacy initiatives around Comprehensive sexuality education, Youth friendly services and fight against harmful cultural practices through donor Brot ,collaborative and partnership efforts of Kelin,TICH, NASCOP ,EGPAF,LVCT county and national government. Achievement Increased utilization of comprehensive SRHR information and education by all young people, Increased utilization of quality and youth-friendly SRHR services that respond to the needs and rights of all young people, and Improved social-cultural, political and legal environment for gender-sensitive, youth-friendly SRHR.
